Noboru - Japanese & Korean Buffet Restaurant

Sushi and sashimi taste the best when it's fresh and made right in front of you! But, if you want cheap sushi in Philly, I guarantee you that it's not going to be fresh at all.

So, where should you go for fresh sushi and sashimi that's made in front of you, plus it's worth the price?

I suggest going to Noboru, a contemporary Asian cuisine sushi buffet. It's located outside of Philadelphia, but it is definitely worth your time to go there for all-you-can-eat sushi! I know, the words "all-you-can-eat" and "buffet" doesn't always bring out the best thoughts all the time. But based on my experienced with Chinese buffets around the city where they serve food altered to suit the taste of "Americans," Noboru gives you a different and better buffet experience.

Even though there are many Japanese restaurants in Philadelphia, I have yet to find one that serves fresh sushi and worth the price. I would hate to spend $30 on a plate of frozen sushi! However, Noboru gave me a different experience! The food is fresh, and they give you a variety of other Japanese, Korean, etc dishes to try! I was introduced to Noboru by a good friend of mine and have been going there for my sushi cravings ever since!

In my opinion, it's a great place for beginners to go and try sushi, along with the other different Asian cuisines offered. At Noboru, you can find:
Japanese Sushi and Sashimi
  • Sushi is rice, seafood, veggies all wrapped in seaweed. There are a few different kinds of sushi that can be found, and they are different based on their presentation.
  • Sashimi is thin slices of raw seafood, such as salmon and tuna, served by itself.
Korean Salads and Hot Pot
  • The Korean salads served here have raw seafood with regular salad served with a Korean paste sauce.
  • The Korean Hot Pot here has seafood in a soup base served in a clay pot.
Shabu Shabu/Salad Bar (depends on meal time)
  • Shabu Shabu is a Japanese version of hot pot/fondue. It uses thin sliced meat and vegetables, and is usually served with dipping sauces.
Asian-styled appetizers and salads
  • You can find seafood salad, edamame (steamed salted soybean pods), seaweed with noodle salads, shiitake  mushroom salad, etc.
In addition to the main dishes mentioned above, you can also find:
  • Crepes
  • Vietnamese Pho
  • Hibachi Grill
  • Chinese dishes
  • Dessert
Dinner cost a bit more because they bring out the more expensive dishes at this time. The lunch and dinner are pretty similar, but certain dishes aren't available for lunch such as sashimi and shabu shabu. Also, if you go for dinner on the weekends, there is an unlimited grilled steak that comes with the price of the buffet. Please visit their website for pricing and hours of operation.
