Maru Global turns Tokio Global

Remember my post on takoyaki from Maru Global?
If not, you can check it out here: 1st Takoyaki Place in Philly: Maru Global

For those that don't know what takoyaki is, here's a quick explanation:
It's a popular ball-shaped dumpling that's typically filled with octopus. It originated in Japan as a street food sold by vendors, and now it can be found in Philadelphia!

Maru Global started out at on 10th Street between Spruce and Pine, but now they've moved to Front and Lombard Street. It's not in Center City anymore, so it might be a bit harder for you to access. But there are some perks to the area! I went last night for dinner with the boyfriend and we had a great time! ;]

Sadly, due to my low quality camera on the Ipod, I couldn't take any good pictures at night. But I'll take some next time I go when the lights are still out, and I'll post it up here.

Since it's by the river, there is more street parking than ever! Back in Center City, you would always get stuck in traffic and have the worse time finding a place to park. But it's different here...trust me. There is a PPA parking lot on Front Street between Lombard and South Street. You can park up to 3 hours, costing you $6.00. It's not bad compared to the parking lots down in Center City, plus there is plenty of space! Another great thing is that the neighborhood is so beautiful! We took a walk around after dinner at Tokio Global, and it was so relaxing...despite the low temperatures we're feeling at night lately.

But the best thing about the new location is that Tokio Global is still the same as the Maru Global that opened over 2 years. It still has the cozy atmosphere with nice soothing jazz music playing in the background, and where the food is made with a modern twist. It's a family restaurant run by Chef Igarashi and his lovely wife, Nicole...along with their adorable daughter! The food is still amazing, so I suggest everyone to put on your winter boots and head down there. :]

  1. Sounds nice, but...sadly...I'm not bold enough to eat tentacles! The place sounds great though, very romantic. Maybe I could even practice some Japanese... :-)
